Chase Bank CD Rate

Chase Bank's full name is Chase Bank USA, National Association.  Given their large size (about $91 Billion in Assets), I doubt that their current CD interest rates will be very good.  But, we shall see.  Their is a comment section below if you would like to let readers now about other high yielding CDs or if you have personal  experience with Chase Bank.

Chase Bank is based in Newark, DE.  The bank was started in 1982.  They lost $130MM for 2009.  They must be holding a lot of cash.  Their E/A ratio is 30%, but their Total Risk based capital is 16%.  They must be one of the banks that needs to make more loans.

Despite their losses, Chase Bank has a 3 1/2 - star rating from Bauer. The high E/A ratio is probably a big part of that. The Chase Bank CD rate does not seem to match their rating. They have a 13-month special at 1.01% which doesn't seem very special. They also have a 3-year CD at 2.00% which is somewhat competitive and they have a 5-year rate at 3.00% which is what it seems most banks across America have. If you are looking for a high yield CD rate, Chase Bank doesn't seem to be it.  So sorry, I don't think you'll need an umbrella.

Which MegaBank would you rate the best?

The Chase Bank savings rate is pitiful at 0.01%.  They do have a relationship savings at 0.25% to 0.50%, but there are much higher yielding savings accouts and checking accounts elsewhere.  Unless you have your heart set on Chase, look elsewhere.

Something else to be aware of is Chase Bank is owned by JP Morgan Chase Bank.  Although they currently have separate insurance, it would be prudent to verify which bank is insuring your deposits.  At some point, they may combine banks.  Bank of America kept Countrywide under separate insurance for about six months.  Their are some links below to other CD Rates Blogs.
